The Norwegian Computer Society, (NCS), Norway
The NCS is the largest special interest society for information technology (IT) in Norway. It is an open, independent forum for Norway's IT professionals and advanced IT users. It encompasses the IT industry, corporations in general and research and development institutions. NCS have no special HCI group, but interest groups for User Friendly Systems, Multimedia, People With Special Needs and Forum For User Documentation. Website address

HCI special interest group in Iceland
A special interest group on HCI has not been formed yet in Iceland. We have plans to form such a group and the Data Processing Society has agreed to be our umbrella organisation (http://www.sky.is/ - web site only in Icelandic). The Data Processing Society was formed in 1968 and has over 700 members. DPS is a professional society for all those working in or are interested in information technology. The society holds conferences and publishes a journal. University of Iceland offers courses on HCI, both on M.S. and B.S. level. Continuing Education Institution has also offered courses on HCI from time to time.

HCI special interest group in Finland
A special interest group on HCI has not yet been formed in Finland. We have plans to form such a group as a Local SIG of ACM SIGCHI (http://www.acm.org/sigchi/local-sigs/). Currently the contact person for this group that is in the forming stage is professor Kari-Jouko Räihä (kjr@cs.uta.fi, http://www.cs.uta.fi/~kjr/eng/).

IFIP
IFIP Technical Committee (TC) No 13 is founded to encourage development towards a science and a technology of human-computer interaction. The main orientation is toward the users, especially the non-computer-professional users, and how to improve the human-computer relationship for them. IFIP TC.13 is responsible for one of the largest international conferences on Human-Computer Interaction, the biannual INTERACT conference. It also support a number of working conferences through its working groups.
